Kia is close to unveiling an updated EV6 and a prototype for the updated version of its high-performance EV6 GT variant has been spotted.
Kia has already released some photos of the updated EV6, and they show a dramatic change in styling is planned for the front end. The changes, which will include new headlights and a revised fascia, will also feature on the EV6 GT.
The EV6 arrived in the U.S. for the 2022 model year and spawned the EV6 GT for 2023. In Kia tradition, the updated EV6 should arrive for the 2025 model year, meaning the debut should take place shortly.
An updated version of the related Hyundai Ioniq 5 has already been revealed for the 2025 model year.
Mirroring changes made to the updated Ioniq 5, the updated EV6 will ditch the current model’s 77.4-kwh battery for an 84-kwh unit, which should result in more range. The EV6 currently delivers up to 310 miles of range as estimated by the EPA. The EV6 GT only rates in at 218 miles, but it can accelerate to 60 mph from rest in 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 161 mph.
Power levels will likely remain unchanged, at least for the regular EV6. Single-motor models currently come with 225 hp, while dual-motor all-wheel-drive models come with 320 hp.
It’s possible more power will come for the EV6 GT with this update, as Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 N performance flagship introduced for 2024 packs a maximum 641 hp. The EV6 GT currently packs 576 hp.
