Lexus has just made it a lot easier to get behind the wheel of the RZ electric compact crossover.
The automaker has reduced the starting price of the 2025 RZ by introducing a new base trim, available on both the rear-wheel-drive RZ 300e and all-wheel-drive RZ 450e. The automaker has also slashed the prices of those model’s existing Premium and Luxury trims for the 2025 model year.
2025 Lexus RZ
The new base 2025 RZ 300e starts at just $43,975. That’s down $11,175 from the starting price of the 2024 RZ, whose entry-level trim was the RZ 300e Premium. That trim for 2025 has also been made more affordable. It now starts at $48,175, a saving of $7,000 compared to the previous year. At the top of the range is the RZ 300e Luxury, which for 2025 starts at $53,905, also representing a saving of $7,000 compared to the previous year.
The savings are just as big for buyers of the RZ 450e. The new base 2025 RZ 450e starts at $48,675, which is down $11,175 from the starting price of the 2024 RZ 450e Premium, the previous entry point for the RZ 450e. In addition, the 2025 RZ 450e Premium starts at $52,875 and the 2025 RZ 450e Luxury at $58,605. In both cases, the savings compared to the previous year total $6,975.
The RZ rides on the same e-TNGA platform found in the Toyota BZ4X and its Subaru Solterra twin. The RZ 300e has a slightly bigger battery than the RZ 450e (72.8 kwh versus 71.4 kwh), and with only a single motor at the front, which is rated at 201 hp, the EPA range estimates are also the highest. The maximum EPA estimates for 2024 are 266 miles for the RZ 300e and 220 miles for the RZ 450e, and similar figures should apply for the 2025 model.
The RZ 450e makes up for its lack of range with extra performance. It features a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive powertrain generating a peak 308 hp, or enough for 0-60 mph acceleration in five seconds.
2025 Lexus RZ
Despite the addition of the new base options, Lexus still includes as standard 18-inch wheels, a 14-inch touchscreen display for the infotainment system, and various electronic driver-assist features. Detailed specifications will be announced closer to the market launch later this year.
Production of the RZ is handled at a plant in Japan. All stated prices include destination.
