  • Mercedes-Benz AMG’s GT 63 S E Performance gets slightly more expensive for 2025
  • Performance figures include 0-60 mph acceleration in 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 197 mph
  • A 6.1-kwh battery enables a small electric range

Mercedes-Benz AMG’s GT 4-Door Coupe gained a flagship GT 63 S E Performance model for 2024 packing a plug-in hybrid powertrain, and for 2025 the price has been increased slightly.

Mercedes announced late on Monday that the 2025 GT 63 S E Performance 4-Door Coupe is priced from $200,100, including a $1,150 destination charge, which is up $4,050 on the previous year. No other changes have been made for the new model year, apart from some additional paint options.

The car’s plug-in hybrid powertrain is familiar, as it also features in AMG’s SL Roadster and GT Coupe sports cars, as well as AMG’s version of the S-Class. It pairs AMG’s twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 with an electric motor at the rear axle, delivering a total output of 831 hp in the GT 63 S E Performance 4-Door Coupe.

A 9-speed automatic transmission for the V-8, a 2-speed automatic for the electric motor, and a conventional all-wheel-drive system with a limited-slip differential complete the drivetrain package. By equipping the engine and electric motor with separate transmissions, AMG claims the system optimizes torque delivery to the wheels. Performance figures include a 0-60 mph time of 2.8 seconds and a governed top speed of 197 mph.

The electric motor alone generates up to 201 hp, and a 6.1-kwh battery enables a limited electric range, thought to be around seven miles. AMG states the battery is designed for high power output rather than extended range. Derived from Formula 1 technology, the battery allows rapid charging and discharging of high power while maintaining relatively low weight.

The driver has seven different driving modes to choose from: Electric, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Race, Slippery, and Individual. Additionally, drivers can adjust regenerative braking across four levels using a steering wheel button.

Comfort mode optimally blends electric and gasoline power while fine-tuning throttle response, ride quality, exhaust note, and shift timing for a refined driving experience. Sport mode enhances agility and power, tapping into extra electric motor boost, while Sport+ increases that boost further. Race mode maximizes available electric motor power for peak performance.

To help with the comfort, the car comes standard with a multi-chamber four-corner air suspension with load leveling and adaptive dampers. Mercedes says its engineers significantly increased the spread between comfort and sportiness in the dampers, which can also be adjusted individually via an interior button.

Stopping power comes from carbon-ceramic brake rotors with bronze calipers, 6-piston units up front and a single floating caliper at the rear. The rotors measure a meaty 16.5 inches up front and 15 inches in the rear. These reside within 21-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires.

The 2025 GT 63 S E Performance 4-Door Coupe will be available in the first quarter of 2025.

Correction: An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated that the GT 63 S E Performance 4-Door Coupe was a new addition to AMG’s U.S. lineup for the 2025 model year.
