Palm Beach International Raceway listed for sale

Palm Beach International Raceway may not have the provenance of fellow Florida racetracks Daytona and Sebring, but unlike those tracks, it’s for sale.

As reported by The Drive Tuesday, Palm Beach International Raceway is now listed for sale by real estate firm CBRE at an undisclosed price. This comes after the local zoning commission blocked a 2022 proposal by a developer to demolish the track for an industrial park.

Located in Jupiter, Florida, 23 miles from West Palm Beach and its airport, the track sits on 174.4 acres. It includes a two-mile road course, quarter-mile drag strip, 7/10-mile kart track, plus space for mud runs and a 13,000-square-foot clubhouse.

The site is located adjacent to both the Bee Line Highway and a CSX railroad line, which might explain why someone wanted to turn it into an industrial park. That move was strongly opposed by local residents, The Drive notes, as well as Indy 500 winner Danny Sullivan, who worked with others to form Formula Race Promotions in an attempt to buy the track, but lost out to Portman Industrial’s bid in 2022.

Palm Beach International Raceway isn’t as recognizable a name as Indianapolis Motor Speedway or other marquee tracks, but it does have one claim to fame. Under its previous guise as Moroso Motorsports Park, it was a stop on the infamous “Top Gear” cheap car road trip across the South.

Several other racetracks have come up for sale in recent years, including Oregon Raceway Park, Michigan’s Grattan Raceway, and California’s Willow Springs International Raceway. This doesn’t speak well of the state of motorsports interest in the U.S., but at least these tracks are being offered for sale instead of being turned into condos or warehouses straight away.
