Kia’s entry-level electric SUV is already making a name for itself. In its first three full months, Kia sold over 8,000 EV2s as full-scale sales begin.

Kia EV2 sales exceed 8,000 in first 3 months

After opening EV2 orders in April, Kia’s small electric SUV is catching on early with buyers. In Germany, the EV2 starts at just €26,600 ($30,500), while Kia is offering leases as low as €199 ($229) per month.

In the UK, the EV2 Air long edition is available to order from £24,245 ($32,500), including the government’s £3,750 Electric Clean Car Grant (ECG).

According to early sales data (via Newsis), Kia EV2 sales reached 8,567 in the first half of 2026. Since it went on sale in mid-April, over 8,000 units were sold between May and July alone, its first three full sales months.

In June, the EV2 was Kia’s second-best-selling electric vehicle in Europe, following the popular EV3 SUV.

Since the EV2 is Kia’s first EV designed and built in Europe, it makes sense that it’s catching on early with buyers.

Measuring just over 4,000 mm long, 1,800 mm wide, and 1,575 mm tall, the EV2 is even smaller than Volkswagen’s ID.3 hatch.

Despite its compact size, the EV2 offers “segment-leading” rear passenger legroom and up to 403 liters of cargo capacity.

Inside, the entry-level electric SUV features two versions of Kia’s latest ccNC infotainment system. The setup is the same as that of other new Kia vehicles, including dual 12.3″ driver-cluster and infotainment screens, alongside a 5″ climate-control display.

However, it comes with a new “Lite” version as standard, which offers the same displays and most of the functions but omits the built-in navigation.

Drivers can still access it through third-party smartphone apps like Google Maps, which connect to the vehicle’s infotainment system.

The EV2 is available in four trims: Light, Air, Earth, and GT-Line. Two battery pack options are offered: 42.2 kWh and 61 kWh, providing WLTP ranges of up to 317 km (197 miles) and 453 km (281 miles), respectively.

Kia said the EV2 “offers one of the longest ranges on a single charge of all EVs under £25,000.” In comparison, BYD’s Dolphin Surf starts at £18,675 ($25,000), but offers 137 miles of WLTP range. The larger Boost model starts at £21,975 ($29,000) with a WLTP range of up to 200 miles.

EV2 Air 61.0 kWh 281 miles £27,995 £24,245 (£3,750 saving)
EV2 First Edition 42.2 kWh 190 miles £28,495 £26,995 (£1,500 saving)
EV2 GT-Line 61.0 kWh 261 miles £32,745 £28,995 (£3,750 saving)

The EV2 is based on the same E-GMP platform that underpins Hyundai’s IONIQ series and Kia’s other EVs, but like the EV3, it uses a 400V architecture rather than an 800V one to cut costs.

Using a 118 kW DC fast charger, the EV2’s battery can still charge from 10% to 80% in around 30 minutes.

Although those in the US will miss out on the EV2, Kia finally launched the EV3 in the States. The 2027 Kia EV3 starts at $29,890 (You can see all the details here), making it one of the most affordable electric vehicles in the US.
