Kia developed a custom PV5 for mail delivery. Starting this month, Kia will begin deploying 200 electric vans to post offices.

Following a pilot test, Kia announced Friday that it plans to supply 200 custom electric vans to The Korea Post for mail delivery.

Kia deployed customized PV5 Cargo vans to nine regional post offices across South Korea to gather feedback from mail carriers in real-life conditions.

Using suggestions from people who would actually use them, Kia modified the electric van to make loading and unloading easier.

Through a PBV conversion partnership, the custom PV5 features door-damage prevention, an aluminum cargo floor, and a flat cargo area to open up interior space.

“This supply is an example of going beyond simply providing vehicles to realize a PBV perfectly suited to the job by actively reflecting the voices from actual postal delivery sites,” an official from Kia’s domestic business division said.

The new partnership is more than just a supply contract. Kia plans to support The Korea Post’s transition to electrification with EV training, customized charging solutions, and maintenance.

Kia announced during its PBV Production Hub Tech Day event this week that it now offers 10 different PV5 body styles.

Going forward, Kia will continue developing custom EV solutions for various public services. While it started with the PV5 Passenger and Cargo models, the company is introducing new body styles, including the Open Bed, WAV, Chassis Cab Donor, and Prime variants.

The company is also expanding PBV partnerships in various industries, including with Korea Electric Power Corp, Coupang Partners Association, and GeoYoung.

Through the first eight months of 2026, Kia sold over 39,000 PV5 vans globally. Next week, Kia will reveal the larger PV7 at IAA Transportation, its second PBV electric van.

Kia said there is “continuous interest” in the larger electric van and that it has already been receiving local inquiries.
