Huddig Launches the HUDDIG 1370 TIGON G2 – the Next Generation of Tigon Technology

Swedish heavy equipment brand HUDDIG has given its 1370 hybrid wheel loader platform a major battery upgrade for the new model year, boosting its battery capacity from 44 kWh to fully 61 kWh – an impressive, 40% upgrade!

HUDDIG’s 1370 TIGON hybrid is an incredibly flexible machine that can be equipped for a wide range of work. In addition to being able to do everything a conventional wheel loader can do, it can be fitted with a loader-mounted crane (LCC), a bucket lift with an insulated basket, and even be operated via remote control. The killer app for this machine, though, is a high-capacity traction battery that enables the loader to operate as a fully electric machine.

And this isn’t a gimmick or a concept for HUDDIG, either – the company has a deployed fleet of 41 first-generation machines that had collectively operated for 96,306 hours and saved an estimated 140,439 gallons of diesel before the launch of the second-gen machine.

“With 100,000 hours of actual operation, we’ve had a very solid foundation for our development work,” says Daniel Åkerström, design engineer at Huddig. “The larger battery makes it possible to run on electric power even more, and we therefore expect to be able to improve these figures even further with the TIGON G2 HUDDIG.”

For its second act, HUDDIG is giving the 1370 hybrid wheel loader platform a 40% bigger battery plus regenerative braking, enabling operators to recover electrical energy while braking, driving downhill, or even lowering the boom.

That doesn’t mean the G2 will just spend 40% more time spent running on electric power – it’s a substantially bigger cut in fuel use when the G1 was already running on pure electric power nearly 60% of the time.

“The combination of extended electric runtime and more attachment options makes the Tigon G2 even more versatile and provides greater freedom to adapt the machine to the job at hand,” says Daniel Myrgren, marketing and sales manager at HUDDIG. “The electric powertrain can also provide a clear competitive advantage in jobs where low emissions and low noise levels are becoming increasingly important.”
