- BMW Panoramic iDrive will first feature in BMW’s Neue Klasse family of EVs, the first member of which is due in 2025
BMW will use the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show next month in Las Vegas to present its next-generation iDrive user interface, BMW Panoramic iDrive, the automaker announced on Tuesday.
BMW also announced it has recruited actor and comedian Tim Meadows to help present the system during CES, which runs from Jan. 7-10.

BMW Panoramic iDrive will make its production debut in BMW’s next-generation electric vehicles, known collectively as the Neue Klasse. The first Neue Klasse EV will launch in late 2025 and has been confirmed by BMW as a compact crossover. It is expected to sit in the X3 family and may end up being called the iX3.
BMW hasn’t revealed any specific details about the BMW Panoramic iDrive system but has provided hints in the past. The system was first teased with 2023’s i Vision Dee concept, with a refined version shown in the Vision Neue Klasse concept that also debuted in 2023. The Vision Neue Klasse is a preview of an electric compact sedan due in 2026, likely forming part of the next 3-Series family.

The concepts showed that BMW plans to do away with a gauge cluster, or at least minimize it. Instead, important information will be presented in a narrow head-up display spanning the width of the windshield. A large tablet-like touchscreen will sit in the center of the dash and serve as the main infotainment hub. Some physical controls, including on the steering wheel, and a voice assistant powered by artificial intelligence will also enable interaction with the vehicle.
BMW isn’t the only automaker looking to introduce head-up displays that span the width of the windshield. Ford and Hyundai have already shown prototype versions. Nissan’s design chief, Alfonso Albaisa, told Motor Authority in an interview earlier this year that screens in the dash will eventually be replaced by windshields capable of displaying all the same information. Patents from General Motors also surfaced earlier this year, showing a system that could potentially display information on all parts of the windshield.
