- The Carrera S has joined the rest of the updated Porsche 911 range
- Among the updates are more power, bigger brakes, and improved dampers
- The updated Carrera S arrives in the spring as a 2025 model and with a starting price of $148,395, including destination
The current 992-generation Porsche 911 received a mid-cycle refresh last year, but not every model in the diverse 911 lineup has been launched in updated form.
The latest to arrive is the 911 Carrera S, which was revealed on Wednesday and is due at dealerships in the spring as a 2025 model. Order books are already open, and pricing starts at $148,395 for the coupe and $161,595 for the convertible. Both figures include a $1,995 destination charge.
The updates to the 911 range include a new hybrid powertrain for the Carrera GTS models, though the Carrera S sticks with the outgoing model’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter flat-6 engine. Peak power has been bumped to 473 hp, up from 443 hp previously, and at present, there’s only an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission on offer. Drive is to the rear wheels only.
A manual transmission is available in the updated 911 range, though at present only in the Carrera T and GT3 models.

Other performance gains for the updated Carrera S are made possible thanks to the fitting of a sport exhaust system, uprated brakes previously used for the Carrera GTS, and updated dampers that Porsche said are more responsive and capable of delivering a more refined ride. For increased damping performance, Porsche offers its PASM Sport Suspension active damper upgrade, which lowers the ride height by 10 millimeters. Other performance options include rear-wheel steering and ceramic composite brake rotors.
Performance quotes for the updated Carrera S include 0-60 mph acceleration in just 3.1 seconds, an improvement of 0.2 seconds over the former model, and a top speed of 191 mph. The figures are for the Carrera S coupe when equipped with the available Sport Chrono Package.
Like other models in the updated 911 range, the updated Carrera S can be identified by its new internals for the headlights that include matrix LED technology and now integrate the daytime running lights (previously, they were separate units). There is also a new design for the taillights and revised fascias that Porsche says are more aerodynamic.

For the interior, a fully digital dash is used for the first time. An engine start button makes its appearance in the 911 for the first time (to the left of the steering wheel in Porsche custom), and the steering wheel has also been updated with more functions, including a standard drive mode selector. Extended leather trim is also standard, as is a wireless phone charger.
Porsche is still cooking up updates for the GT3 RS, Turbo, and Turbo S. The updated versions of those models are expected to arrive for the 2026 model year. In the case of the Turbo models, a hybrid powertrain is planned.
