Lucid and Bolt announced a partnership today to build and deploy autonomous vehicles across Europe, with the ride-hailing platform aiming to put at least 25,000 self-driving Lucid EVs on its network. Australia just switched on its longest-duration grid battery, and it runs on 144 Tesla Megapacks. RWE’s Limondale battery in New South Wales can discharge for a full eight hours — four times longer than the two-hour batteries that dominate the Australian grid. It’s the first project of its kind in the country. The battery sits at 50 MW / 400 MWh, near Balranald in the state’s south-west, right next to RWE’s existing Limondale solar farm. XPeng is trying to turn its self-driving and smart-cockpit systems into a licensing business, courting automakers, suppliers, and software firms well beyond its existing Volkswagen deal, according to a Reuters report. McLaren is preparing for a major reshuffle of its road-car lineup, with the GTS and 750S set to disappear over the next few years. The first to leave will likely be the GTS. McLaren’s mid-engined V8 grand tourer is expected to remain in production until around 2027. Introduced in 2019, the two-seat GT brought a slightly more comfortable character to the brand’s supercar range while retaining serious performance. The 750S is also approaching the end of its life.
