SpaceX has asked the Federal Communications Commission for permission to fly Starlink terminals during Starship’s fourteenth flight test, and the filing lays out a genuine trip to orbit, something the program has never attempted. Every Starship flight so far, including Flight 13’s successful splashdown in the Indian Ocean on July 24, has flown a suborbital arc that ends with the ship reentering the atmosphere within the same hour it launches. Electric cars outsold petrol cars in Australia for the first time in August. Battery-electric vehicles hit 27,078 sales, or 24.9% of the new-car market, ahead of both petrol (25,824) and diesel (23,608). The Tesla Model Y topped every model on sale. The Maine Public Utilities Commission (PUC) also selected Avangrid Networks, the parent company of Central Maine Power, to develop the high-voltage transmission line needed to carry the wind power from the north of the state to the New England grid. Lotus has launched the Emira 420 Sport in China. Billed as the most powerful and lightest version of the sports car yet, it carries a starting price of around 988,000 yuan ($145,000), with deliveries scheduled to begin in October. Designed as a “track-grade road car”, the 420 Sport gets several aerodynamic and weight-saving upgrades.
