Nissan Ariya electric SUVs are making part of their journey to dealerships on electric semi trucks. The automaker said in a press release said it will use up to four battery-electric Class 8 semis to haul vehicles from the Port of Los Angeles to dealerships. Tractors are being provided by Nikola and Kenworth. They haul traditional car carriers and are charged using newly installed hardware at the port, the release said. The first truckload of vehicles, including Ariyas and some gasoline vehicles, was delivered to Los Angeles-area dealership Downey Nissan in Downey, California. The MX-30 EV is a confusing one. It embodies a unique package not shared with any gasoline model and its design details transcend its sub-$40,000 price tag. Yet it sends out some of the disappointing signals of the so-called compliance cars from a decade earlier. For the most part, these were electric conversions of small cars—the Fiat 500, Ford Focus, Chevy Spark, and Volkswagen Golf, to name just a few—fitted with battery packs for a range of about 100 miles and sold only in California or the West Coast. Although these models may have had platforms to prove the EV…
The 2024 Cadillac XT4 debuted, we spotted the 2024 Ford Explorer, and the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 got a price. It’s the Week in Reverse, right here at Motor Authority. The 2024 Cadillac XT4 received a fresh face and a new dashboard. Set to enter production this summer, the updated XT4 aligns some of the gas-powered compact crossover’s styling elements with the electric Lyriq and ups the smallest Cadillac’s luxury game. The modern BMW 3.0 CSL entered production in Dingolfing, Germany. The modern interpretation of the legendary 3.0 CSL homologation special will cost 750,000 euros (approximately $797,650) and is based…
Following the appearance of camouflaged prototypes and a handful of photos on the website of the China Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the 2024 Ford Edge for China has been fully revealed. The current Edge has been on sale since the 2015 model year and could definitely use a redesign. However, this version for the Chinese market may not be destined for the U.S. Shown in long-wheelbase Edge L form, this version of the crossover looks very different from its predecessor. It adopts the creased design language from the 2023 Ford Mondeo mid-size sedan that replaced the Fusion in…
A restored matching-numbers 1971 Porsche 914/6 Targa once owned by Motorsports Hall of Fame member Chip Ganassi is being offered at Bonhams’ Amelia Island Auction on March 2, 2023. Bonhams estimates the Porsche 914/6 will sell for $100,000 to $125,000, and its pedigree is backed up by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and extensive restoration receipts totaling more than $38,950. 1971 Porsche 914/6 Targa This 914/6 was manufactured in May 1971 and delivered new to Mr. Vernon W. Toyota is increasing production of the 300-hp GR Corolla hot hatch due to popular demand. It also plans to offer the GR Corolla Circuit Edition, which was limited to just 1,500 units for 2023, for the 2024 model year and possibly beyond. Porsche’s CEO confirmed plans for an electric 718 last year and prototypes are currently testing on public roads. The latest prototype to be spotted is a 718 Boxster roadster, but an electric 718 Cayman coupe should be in the works as well. Both will feature technology and styling shared with Porsche’s Mission R concept from 2021. Land Rover…
Ioniq 6 pricing, safest EVs, Rivian sounds, Porsche shuns one-pedal driving: The Week in Reverse
Which automaker (not Tesla) re-upped its plans to bring a steering yoke to the U.S.? And another solar car was canceled. Which one? This is our look back at the Week In Reverse—right here at DriftBreath Reports—for the week ending February 24, 2023. The 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 electric sedan has a price tag for the U.S., and it sets the 361-mile version that outdoes the Tesla Model 3 in range at $46,615. Base versions of the Ioniq 6 start at $42,715 with a 240-mile range. That positions Ioniq 6 prices just below those of the Ioniq 5 crossover. The…
Land Rover last year launched a Defender equipped with a V-8, but a more hardcore V-8 option is still in the works. The latest Defender is expected to have at least two V-8 grades: the regular Defender V8 launched for the 2022 model year, plus a more capable version possibly wearing an SVX badge and targeting the likes of the Ford Bronco Raptor and Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392, but with a luxury twist. Prototypes for the potential Defender SVX have been spotted, revealing a number of key details. The prototype features a titanium exhaust with quad tips, along with widened…
Barn finds aren’t as common as they used to be, but there are still a few hidden gems out there, like this rare 1931 Duesenberg Model J, which was recently uncovered after almost six decades in storage. Classic car YouTube channel Nobody’s Show documented the story of the Duesenberg, which was parked in 1967 and just recently unearthed by the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Company, an Oklahoma Duesenberg specialist built around the defunct automaker’s leftover parts inventory. This particular car was left to the owner by her father, so it wasn’t really missing. Just in storage. After decades sitting in the…
In case you missed it, Chrysler is still a happening item. The V8-powered 300C was a hit when it was revealed last year, selling out in mere hours. The Pacifica minivan is a rocking family bus, and there are some concepts floating around, too. That said, it’s been a minute since we sat down with Chrysler to see what’s new. CEO Christine Fuell — known as Chris — has been on the job since 2021. To get a sense of where she thinks the company is now and where it’s headed, we sat down with Fuell at last week’s Chicago…
