Polestar continues to refine its Polestar 3 electric midsize SUV, introducing a series of updates aimed at enhancing functionality and the overall user experience.

Deliveries of the Polestar 3 began last summer, and the Swedish performance EV brand remains committed to continuous improvement. The latest updates, announced on Thursday, include various software enhancements that add new features and improve existing ones. Additionally, Polestar is upgrading the vehicle’s computing hardware, replacing the current Nvidia Drive AGX Xavier chip with a more powerful Nvidia Drive AGX Orin chip.

Among the new features are walk-away locking, wireless Apple CarPlay, automatic wiper activation when selecting drive or reverse, and digital key functionality for compatible mobile devices. The digital key allows owners to remotely lock and unlock the vehicle, start it, and share access.

Several existing features have also been improved. According to Polestar, enhancements include increased stability for the infotainment system, audio system, and Bluetooth connectivity. Additional refinements include auto-dimming for the rearview mirror and improved sensitivity for the foot-activated power tailgate.

While the software updates will be delivered over the air, the Orin chip will be integrated at the factory starting with the 2026 Polestar 3. The new chip provides greater computing power, enhancing processing speeds for software-based functions.

Polestar has confirmed that existing owners will be contacted to have their SUVs retrofitted with the new chip at no cost, following a strategy similar to that of its sister brand Volvo with the related EX90 electric midsize SUV.

Although Polestar has not yet announced pricing or availability for the 2026 Polestar 3, the 2025 model received a price reduction last November. Its starting price was lowered to $68,900, including a $1,400 destination charge—down from the initial $74,800 at launch.
