Having introduced the all-electric i3 earlier this year, BMW has now revealed the ICE versions of the next-generation 3 Series. It will be available with 4- and 6-cylinder engines and features the brand’s latest Neue Klasse design.
The exterior design of the new 3 Series is similar to the BMW i3. It has the same twin kidney design in the front with integrated LED headlights and new claw-like DRLs. In the rear, you get slim LED taillights and a sculpted two-tone bumper. The M350 variant gets quad exhausts and sportier wheels.
The interior design is also based on the Neue Klasse philosophy and looks similar to the i3. The sporty M350 version gets a different steering wheel and upholstery options. In the centre is a rhomboid-shaped touchscreen and a massive edge-to-edge instrument display along the lower edge of the windscreen.
Under the hood, the new 3 Series is offered with two engine options. The lower spec 330 and 330 xDrive variants use a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that makes 255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, which enables the car to sprint from 0-60 mph in 5.9 seconds.
The M350 xDrive variant is powered by a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline 6-cylinder unit that puts out 437 hp and 428 lb-ft of torque. BMW claims a 0-60 mph time of 3.9 seconds. It even has what BMW calls ‘Drift Moment’, which is essentially a drift mode in which power is sent only to the rear axle.
Prices for the 2027 BMW 3 Series start at $49,900, with the M350 xDrive variant priced at $65,900.
