The New 2025 Audi S5: A Sharper, Smarter Sportback

New Audi S5

The 2025 Audi S5 marks a new chapter for Audi’s sporty sedan range, closing the A4 chapter and rolling its spirit into a sleeker, more sophisticated A5 and S5 lineup. This time, Audi focuses the S5 solely as a Sportback and Avant, dropping the coupe and cabriolet to streamline its offerings—and the results look promising for drivers who want practicality without sacrificing a bit of fun.

Under the hood, the new S5 packs a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 producing around 362 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque. It’s paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and Audi’s trusty quattro all-wheel-drive system. Real-world tests put its 0–60 mph sprint around 4.5 seconds, which keeps it quick enough to remind you it’s an S-badged Audi, but not so aggressive that it feels like a weekend-only toy.

The driving experience remains classically Audi: calm, composed, and precise. Early reviewers have noted that while it doesn’t ignite the senses like some rivals, it excels as a confident, fast cruiser. The new Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architecture promises a stiffer, more refined ride, with a suspension setup that strikes a neat balance between firm control and daily comfort.

Visually, the 2025 S5 gets a subtle but modern redesign. The front end is cleaner, with a slimmer grille and sleeker headlights. Around back, new OLED taillights and flush door handles modernize the overall profile. Step inside, and the cockpit is unmistakably high-tech: Audi’s latest “Digital Stage” includes a crisp 11.9-inch digital cluster and a generous 14.5-inch center touchscreen. Top trims also add a passenger display, but some drivers might miss having physical climate knobs—almost every function now lives on-screen.

Practicality hasn’t been forgotten either. The Sportback’s liftback design and expanded wheelbase mean generous luggage room and decent rear-seat comfort, setting it apart from more cramped rivals.

Pricing is expected to start in the mid-$60,000 range, which aligns it well with BMW’s M440i xDrive Gran Coupe and Mercedes-AMG’s C43 sedan. Deliveries should begin by mid-2025.

Overall, the new Audi S5 is a polished evolution rather than a radical reinvention. It’s best suited to buyers wanting a sophisticated, tech-laden daily driver that blends subtle performance with everyday usability. For many, that’s exactly the sweet spot.
