This e-bike fits seven riders, and that’s not even the craziest thing about it

If you’ve ever looked at a cargo e-bike and thought, “Sure, but where am I supposed to put the other six people?”, SixThreeZero may finally have the answer.

The company’s latest addition to its growing e-bike and e-trike lineup, the Long Range Luxury Rickshaw, is already a fairly ridiculous machine in its standard form. It combines three wheels, dual motors, rear passenger seating bench, and enough battery capacity to make many electric motorcycles jealous. But start adding its optional passenger trailers, and you can essentially build yourself a seven-person electric bicycle train.

And somehow, that’s still not the craziest number on the spec sheet.

The rickshaw packs a whopping 7,300 Wh of battery capacity. That’s not a typo. We didn’t move a decimal. It’s literally got 10x the battery capacity of most e-bikes.

The setup includes two 48V 20Ah batteries integrated into the frame, plus an enormous 48V 112Ah battery mounted beneath the rear passenger seat. Combined, that works out to 7,296 Wh of capacity.

For comparison, a typical commuter e-bike might have a 500-750 Wh battery.

The company claims up to 120 miles (193 km) of range, though as always, actual range will depend heavily on speed, terrain, assist level, and – perhaps more than with most e-bikes – how many friends you’ve talked into joining your bicycle conga line.

But with that mileage figure working out to an efficiency of around 60 Wh/mi (36 Wh/km), that spec sheet range number might actually be a fairly realistic rating. There are a lot of e-bike companies trying to claim 100-mile ranges with a 720 Wh battery, though they admittedly don’t have the rolling resistance of this e-trike locomotive.

Power comes from a pair of 750W motors. Riders can select single or dual-motor operation, with the latter offering 1,500W of combined nominal power for hills and heavy loads. Top speed is listed at 20 mph (32 km/h), available through either pedal assist or throttle.

The base rickshaw seats the rider plus two rear passengers and starts at a rather hefty $7,495. But that’s where things get interesting.

SixThreeZero offers $999 rear “sub-frames” that attach behind the trike, with options for passenger seating or cargo baskets. Up to two can apparently be connected, creating the seven-person configuration pictured above.

There are even powered versions of those sub-frames with their own motor and battery, controlled from the cockpit of the main bike. At that point, we’re getting dangerously close to building a Mad Max electric road train one bicycle component at a time.

Other equipment includes hydraulic disc brakes on all three wheels, a torque sensor, 20 x 4-inch fat tires, suspension fork, ergonomic handlebars, headlights with high and low beams, turn signals, mirrors, brake lights, a rear differential, and a front cargo basket.

Oh, and a captain’s chair that looks significantly better than the seats in my first car.

Electrek’s Take

Is a $7,495 three-wheeled e-bike with more than 7 kWh of batteries and a pair of passenger trailers excessive? Absolutely.

But I’m also having trouble pretending I don’t want to load six friends aboard and find out just how far this wonderfully absurd contraption can actually go.

And having personally tested SixThreeZero Rickshaws in the past, including putting at least six people on one (pictured below), I know they make these things well.

Lord help the first guy who ever tries to back one of these e-bike trains up, though.

Definitely don’t try this at home. But if you do, follow my lead and use borrowed kids from around the neighborhood
