Al Pacino, Anthony Hopkins, And Andy Garcia Star In A New Maserati Movie: Watch The Trailer

  • Maserati: The Brothers is a new movie that tells the story of the automaker’s triumph at the Indianapolis 500.
  • The film stars Al Pacino, Anthony Hopkins, Andy Garcia, and Jessica Alba, along with Michele Morrone as Alfieri Maserati, Salvatore as Bindo, and Lorenzo De Moor as Carlo.
  • The film has a tentative release date of October 15 in Italy. International distribution is in the works.

Six brothers, a workshop in Bologna, and a dream that in 1926 seemed out of reach: taking on the automotive world with hand-built machinery. That dream is now turning into a film, previewed by its official trailer.

It is called Maserati: The Brothers, and the cast alone explains why it is drawing attention. Al Pacino, Anthony Hopkins, Andy Garcia, and Jessica Alba star in a biopic about the family that helped put Italy on the motorsports map.

The film follows the early struggles of the Maserati brothers and their path through motorsports, with a central focus on the Indianapolis 500. Filming took place between Modena and Cinecittà. In Italy, the movie will be released in theaters by Notorious Pictures, with October 15, 2026, indicated as the target release date, though it has not yet been officially set on the calendar.

The project is now deep into post-production, with US distribution handled by Magenta Light Studios and an international rollout also taking shape.

Who Were The Brothers Behind The Trident?

The film is directed by Bobby Moresc. Three names less familiar to a broad international audience carry much of the Italian side of the story: Michele Morrone plays Alfieri Maserati, Salvatore Esposito plays Bindo Maserati, and Lorenzo De Moor portrays Carlo Maserati.

They were the brothers who, together with the rest of the family, founded the Modena-based automaker after starting from a workshop, without capital comparable to that of the major European brands of the era.

The story told by the film fits into a legacy Maserati still celebrates today: the 100 years of the Trident, recently revisited with the GT2 Stradale dedicated to 100 years of the Trident. It is no coincidence that Hollywood has chosen this chapter: the arc of a small manufacturer challenging the giants is as much cinematic material as it is automotive museum history.

The dramatic heart of the film appears to be the Indianapolis 500, the race Maserati won in 1939 and again in 1940 with the 8CTF Boyle Special. One detail still makes that achievement stand out today: Maserati remains the only Italian automaker to have won the Indianapolis 500 under its own name at the finish, in a context where other Italian companies such as Dallara later became chassis suppliers for many winning single-seaters.

In the teaser, this chapter appears to be positioned as the main narrative turning point, the moment when the Bologna workshop becomes an international legend. It is also an episode that speaks to Maserati’s present, as the brand continues to use its racing history as a reference point for its latest projects and as a way to connect historical memory with modern competition.

Motor1’s Take: This movie seems to have come out of nowhere, but we will take it. Maserati’s origin story gets a Hollywood telling with big names attached—we hope it gets a release in the United States.
