An Audi A6 Sportback E-Tron has travelled an incredible 831 miles (1,338 km) on a single charge, setting a new Guinness World Record for a production car.
Polish rally driver Miko Marczyk achieved the feat on public roads, dealing with normal traffic and even rush-hour conditions. The journey began in Poland at 1:55 AM on September 11 and lasted more than 45 hours before the battery finally ran dry.
That’s particularly impressive considering the Audi A6 Sportback E-Tron has an official WLTP range of up to 483 miles (777 km). Marczyk stretched that figure by around 72 percent, averaging just 7.09 kWh/100 km.
Efficiency was helped by the A6’s slippery 0.21 drag coefficient, while its battery offers 94.9 kWh of usable capacity. The car can also recover energy at up to 220 kW under braking.
Marczyk knows a thing or two about hypermiling. He previously drove a diesel Skoda Superb for 1,759 miles (2,831 km) on a single tank.
