Given the inclusion of jazzy blue carpets, we’d love it if there was the option of Alpine Blue (the launch colour for the A110 Coupé) for the outside. Even the Renault 5’s “Pop Yellow!” would work – mixed with the blue it would give off early nineties Williams Formula One vibes. Latest Renault Megane deals Head-to-headOn the roadFor two cars competing at a similar price point, the way they drive feels starkly different. While the Megane feels sharp through turns, with suspension that’s a touch on the firm side, the Kia is softer and more laid back – but at…
Kwik Fit came bottom of our chart for cost in every category except for the very cheapest tyre, which was just named as ‘Budget’ on the website. It does have some deals if you buy multiple tyres though, including 20 per cent off four of our sample Pirellis. It was also the only site to offer free mobile fitting when you buy two or more tyres. But the site is clunky and slow and some sizes and brands weren’t available. We expected better from a big name. The car’s high standard of quality made a very good impression, as did the brand’s customer service, but Ellis found the iX1 wasn’t all that fun to drive. BMW iX1 prices and latest dealsHow much does the BMW iX1 cost? Well, official ‘on the road’ prices range from £43,295 to £59,295 but you can…
2022 CitroenAMI4,220 milesAutomaticElectricCash £5,970View AMI2022 CitroenAMI1,605 milesAutomaticElectricCash £4,999View AMIThat fundamental shape remains unchanged, with a big part of the Ami’s appeal down to the fact that it measures just 2.4 metres long – small enough to park two nose-to-nose within the length of a BMW 5 Series and still have enough wiggle room to drive out again – and just under 1.4 metres wide. Instead, the tiny, boxy shape has been subject to some cosmetic updates. The front end sees the headlights moved higher up the body, essentially taking the place of the old indicators, which are dropped lower down…
Triangular styling (presumably inspired by the Cupra logo) appears throughout the car, in the lamp lenses, as interchangeable darts of colour on the door panels, and across the 19-inch ‘Spectrum’ machined alloy wheels that come with our V2 specification. Inside, it gets comfortable bucket seats in ‘Dinamica’ microfibre finish. They have copper stitching to match the details on the dash and steering wheel, which looks especially good on the air vents. There’s also ripple-effect satin silver across the dash and centre console. Stylish, upmarket and Batsuit-esque… Our V2 Terramar gets a large 10.25-inch infotainment screen and a configurable dashboard, giving…
Under the skin, the Mk2 Nexo benefits has its own bespoke platform and a completely revamped fuel-cell powertrain, including a new electric motor that kicks out 201bhp. So it can go from 0-62mph in 7.8 seconds; much quicker than the 9.2 seconds the old car needed. The fresh 2.64kWh battery is much bigger too (up from 1.56kWh in the previous Nexo), and the updated motor management system is now faster and more efficient. Plus, there are three new-material tanks that can store up to 6.69kg of hydrogen, which is more than the old model, and they can be refuelled quicker…
Euro NCAP reassessed the Golf in 2025 under much more rigorous criteria than its original 2019 test to check if its five-star rating still applied. The independent safety organisation has ruled that the Golf (along with the GTI variant) still has a maximum five-star rating, and this is partly in thanks to the excellent level of on-board kit. In the unfortunate event of a collision, there are front, side and curtain airbag systems in place to help prevent injury, while VW’s automatic post-collision braking function brings the vehicle to a stop to try and avert a secondary impact. Other driver…
The only significant way my situation differs from the typical EX30 buyer’s is that I’m not an empty-nester – my wife and I have an 11-year-old daughter in tow. As a result, the EX30’s introduction to Pringle family life has been a diet of short suburban journeys, mainly to and from school, football training and matches, and the shops. That means I haven’t tested the car’s range at all, although it was a deliberate choice to pick the Extended Range model – as most EX30 buyers do. This can officially manage 296 miles per charge, and while that hasn’t been…
If you want to keep the charging cables out of the load bay, there’s storage under the bonnet. There’s a capacity of 72 litres in rear-wheel drive cars, but the addition of an electric motor up front cuts the space to 47 litres, but that’s still plenty for a charging cable and the tyre repair kit. Unlimited mileage warranty will give peace of mind, even though it’s only for three years Pros Plenty of safety kit as standard Next-level autonomous driving tech is offered Unlimited mileage warranty Cons Warranty cover is only for three years Menu system makes it tricky…
VerdictThe Volkswagen Taigo is pretty much everything that you’d expect of a VW, which for most people is a good thing. It’s generally well-made and easy to live with, plus it cuts a dash and comes with some impressive engines. Practical and well equipped, it may not be an especially high-profile model within VW’s range, but there’s a lot to like about the Taigo, even if it won’t set your pulse racing. Be thorough with your pre-purchase checks though, ensuring that everything works as it should and that the interior isn’t damaged, because as our Driver Power surveys show, some…
