Tesla price cuts, Lightyear 2, Ioniq 5 crab walk, Ram EV and charging robot: The Week in Reverse

This is our look back at the Week In Reverse—right here at DriftBreath Reports—for the week ending January 13, 2023. Only a few days after reporting some disappointing delivery figures, indicating demand was flagging, Tesla dropped prices on all of its models by thousands. The effect was most pronounced on the Model Y, which now qualifies for the $7,500 EV tax credit and is effectively more than $20,000 cheaper than it was yesterday morning. Engineers from Mercedes-Benz AMG have been photographed testing a prototype for an updated version of the GT 4-Door Coupe. The big performance hatch arrived for the 2019 model year and was given a subtle update for 2022. More substantial changes are planned for the latest update, which will likely be introduced for 2024 to coincide with the arrival of a redesigned GT sports car (shown below) also for 2024. A new grille with an egg-crate pattern is similar to the design seen on prototypes for the redesigned GT. A revised front fascia design is also hidden beneath the heavy camouflage…

Hennessey isn’t finished milking the Venom. Worked up from the initial F5 Coupe, the F5 Revolution gets the same basic goodies — carbon tub, 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with 1,817 horsepower…
Sales of cars from exotic brands reached new heights in 2022, despite a long list of major headwinds. The war in Ukraine, energy and inflation crises, and supply disruptions couldn’t stop many brands in the ultra-luxury segment from posting record results. From the brands that have reported full-year sales figures for 2022, Lamborghini was the big winner, as the automaker managed to deliver 9,233 units, an increase of 10% over the previous year. The figure is impressive considering Aventador production ended in September of 2022, and the Huracán is also at the end of its life cycle, when sales of…
