Infiniti QX50 and QX55 production reportedly ends in 2025

Infiniti, with its limited lineup, needs all the models it can get, but its two most affordable options will be discontinued next year, according to a recent report.

Citing comments from Nissan Americas product planning chief Ponz Pandikuthira, Automotive DriftBreath (subscription required) reported on Jan. 25 that the QX50 and QX55 compact crossovers are scheduled to end production in December. Infiniti plans to retain enough stock to last into the summer of 2026, suggesting that the 2026 model year will be the final one for both vehicles in the U.S.

According to Pandikuthira, the aging QX50 and QX55, launched for 2019 and 2022, respectively, will appear outdated compared to Infiniti’s newer models arriving at dealerships, such as the 2025 QX80 full-size SUV and the upcoming QX65, a coupe-like crossover due next year.

Infiniti has also hinted at introducing two electric vehicles later this decade, though these models have faced repeated delays.

“If you go into a showroom and you have cars like the QX60, the QX80, and the special versions we have planned, the QX50 and QX55 start looking dated,” Pandikuthira said. “You might lose some of the very deal-focused, lower-end [consumers], but that’s really not what we’re planning to do with Infiniti as a brand.”

The lack of new product offerings has hurt Infiniti significantly in recent years. In 2024, the brand’s U.S. sales totaled just 58,070 units, a 10% drop compared to the previous year. Sales of the QX50 in 2024 were 10,722 units, while the QX55 recorded only 3,721 units. The brand’s most popular model was the QX60 three-row crossover, which sold 27,808 units in 2024.

The QX50 and QX55 are built alongside the Mercedes-Benz GLB at a joint-venture factory in Mexico. With production of the GLB scheduled to end there in 2026, the plant’s future remains uncertain.
