Midsize Lucid SUV debuts late 2025 or early 2026 with sub-$50,000 price

Lucid’s thinking beyond Gravity.

On Tuesday, interim CEO Marc Winterhoff announced during the automaker’s earnings call that Lucid’s midsize vehicle will be unveiled “late this year or early next.”

The debut timeline comes after the automaker teased the upcoming midsize SUV in September at its technology and manufacturing day. The teaser image was posted on Twitter (now called X). Lucid said the midsize electric SUV will arrive in late 2026 and cost less than $50,000.

Winterhoff said on Tuesday that the team has moved on to the advanced engineering phase of the midsize EV variants and is working on development and industrialization phases currently.

The midsize EV will have “leading technology and efficiency,” according to the company. Lucid claimed it will deliver the same range as competitors with a smaller battery pack.

Part of that efficiency will come thanks to Lucid’s new lower-cost drive unit dubbed “Atlas,” which the automaker is currently developing.

The teaser image from September revealed a crossover SUV that looks about the same size as the Tesla Model Y. At the time, Lucid CEO Peter Rawlinson said that the company’s midsize vehicles would be like the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y.

The vehicle in the image appears to match the vehicle covered in a sheet shown in January.

Lucid hasn’t teased the name of the upcoming crossover SUV, but the company filed a trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office in January for the name Earth.

The midsize crossover SUV has a similar silhouette and roofline as the Gravity SUV. The front features horizontal LED headlights and a full-width chrome trim piece with “LUCID” lettering. The fenders feature strong curves, and the mirrors are fender-mounted. Unlike the Gravity SUV, the midsize crossover appears to have scallops on both sides of the hood similar to the Air sedan.

Rawlinson has said the midsize vehicle will be the company’s “big volume platform.” That likely means it will be less luxurious than the Gravity and Air sedan.

In August, Lucid received another $1.5 billion cash infusion from Saudi Arabia.

Pre-production units of the Gravity SUV are rolling off the assembly line with customer deliveries set to begin later this year.
