The new Audi RS Q5 Sportback prototype has been spotted testing around the Nurburgring for the first time.

Based on the SQ5 Sportback, the RS model gets a much more aggressive appearance. The front end features a taller grille with a horizontal bar running across it, along with a distinctive mesh pattern. The bumper has also been redesigned, while the air intakes appear taller and narrower than those on the SQ5.

The changes continue along the sides. Extended wheel arches suggest a wider track, while the production car is expected to receive larger, sportier wheels and high-performance brakes.

At the rear, the new Audi RS Q5 Sportback stands out with a huge dual exhaust system featuring oval tips. A revised spoiler and bumper further distinguish it from the regular model.

The biggest change, however, could be under the bonnet. The RS Q5 Sportback is expected to borrow the RS5’s plug-in hybrid powertrain, combining a twin-turbocharged 2.9-litre V6 with a 25.9 kWh battery, electric motor and eight-speed automatic transmission.
