New Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series spied with serious aero hardware

Fresh spy shots of the new Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series show a heavily camouflaged prototype. Mercedes has done a great job in covering up each and every curve of the car, but the disguise hasn’t managed to hide some of its more interesting aerodynamic hardware.

The front end gets a relatively small grille with vertical slats, while the bumper features additional aero elements on either side. The bonnet has a central air scoop and a set of small winglets that appear to be part of the active-aero system. Interestingly, they are shown in their open position. Projector headlights with integrated three-pointed-star LED DRLs complete the front-end details.

Along the sides, large air channels suggest plenty of attention has gone into managing airflow. At the rear, things get even more serious, with a massive fixed wing, an enormous diffuser built into the bumper and slim LED taillights connected by a black strip. A mesh-like structure around the rear could also be seen. It could be related to some aerodynamic testing.

Mercedes hasn’t revealed the powertrain yet, but a flat-plane-crank V8 is expected. It could produce more power than the AMG GT 63 Pro and would need to beat the previous GT Black Series, which made 720 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque.
