The Pixo is back, but this time it’s an all-electric city cruiser set to become Nissan’s most affordable EV starting under $25,000.
Meet the Nissan Pixo EV, an affordable electric city car
After discontinuing the budget city car in 2013, Nissan is reviving the Pixo name for its new entry-level EV.
The Pixo EV marks Nissan’s return to Europe’s minicar segment, which is seeing a surge of low-cost electric vehicles primarily driven by Chinese automakers like BYD and Leapmotor.
European legacy automakers, such as Volkswagen and Renault, are leading a counter-offensive, with new EVs like the ID. Polo and the Dacia Spring.
Nissan is the latest with plans to enter Europe’s growing electric A-segment market. Developed through its partnership with Renualt, the Pixo EV shares the same underpinnings as the Renault Twingo.
It uses a 27.5 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, the first LFP battery in a Nissan EV in Europe, providing a WLTP range of up to 259 km (161 miles).
Using a 50 kW DC fast charger, the Pixo EV’s battery can charge from 15% to 80% in about 28 minutes.
Nissan said the new Pixo EV is designed for “drivers looking for an accessible electric city car that combines compact dimensions, practical interior space, modern connectivity and everyday usability.”
Measuring 3,796 mm long, 1,790 mm wide, and 1,512 mm tall, with a 2,492 mm wheelbase, Nissan’s new Pixo EV is nearly identical in size to the Renault Twingo and Hyundai Inster.
Although it’s an entry-level model, the electric city car will be equipped with advanced driver assistance systems, including automated emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and e-Pedal technology.
It also has Google built-in, including Gemini, providing “intuitive” navigation, such as real-time route planning and charging, which can be accessed through the MyNissan app.
The Pixo EV is designed by Nissan, but will be produced at Renault’s Novo Mesto manufacturing plant in Slovenia.
“As fuel costs rise, the case for switching to electrified vehicles only grows stronger. Nissan is right at the heart of that shift,” Massimiliano Messina, Chairperson, Nissan AMIEO, said after unveiling the new entry-level EV on Wednesday.

We got an early look at the new mini EV in public earlier this month. Although it’s still covered, spy images from Motor.es offered a glimpse of what the Pixo EV looks like in real life.
Nissan will announce market-specific prices in December, but the Pixo EV is expected to start at under €20,000 ($23,000), before subsidies or incentives. It will sit below the Micra in Nissan’s growing European EV lineup as a twin to the Renault Twingo.
Those in the US will miss out on the new Pixo EV, yet another affordable electric vehicle. Nissan developed it specifically for European cities, and it’s produced in Slovenia.
