Range Rover is now saying no to bigger dashboard screens

Range Rover is preparing to take a new approach to modern car interiors. The brand wants fewer screens in its future lineup. As rivals, particularly Chinese brands, continue filling dashboards with increasingly large displays, the British luxury marque is planning to reduce screen sizes across its new models.

The strategy has been previewed by the upcoming Range Rover GT. Its cabin features a centrally mounted touchscreen positioned lower on the dashboard, accompanied by a slim digital driver display.

There is no huge screen stretching across the dashboard, while a dedicated passenger display has also been considered unnecessary. Range Rover believes this more restrained approach could become a point of difference as digital displays continue to dominate new-car interiors.

However, the company isn’t abandoning touchscreens altogether. The GT will retain some shortcut controls on the steering wheel, but functions such as climate and multimedia settings will still rely largely on the main display.

It marks a notable change in direction for Range Rover, which has followed the industry’s push towards bigger and more numerous screens. The new philosophy is less about returning to traditional dashboards and more about finding a sensible balance between technology and usability.
