Walmart’s EV Charging Network Just Hit A Big Milestone

  • Walmart’s EV charging network is now live in 20 states.
  • The retail giant is rapidly installing new chargers across the country.
  • The latest station opened in Colorado, with hundreds more in the pipeline.

Walmart is now officially a serious player in the American EV charging industry. That’s because the retail giant recently opened its 100th EV fast-charging station, with the Walmart Supercenter in Monument, Colorado, getting a nice ribbon-cutting ceremony last week to celebrate the occasion.

It’s a big moment for the American big box store chain, which had zero branded chargers at its locations less than two years ago. With the latest addition to its network, the retail company now operates EV chargers in 20 states, up from the 17 it was present in just one month ago.

The Walmart Supercenter on 16218 Jackson Creek Parkway in Monument has four individual stalls capable of delivering up to 400 kilowatts of power to a maximum of eight EVs at once. The all-in-one dispensers, made by ABB Mobility, don’t need separate power cabinets and offer a combination of NACS and CCS1 connectors, eliminating the need for a separate charging adapter.

“By expanding EV fast charging at Walmart locations across the country, we’re giving drivers a dependable way to charge while they’re in the store,” said Shayne Wahlmeier, Senior Vice President, Walmart Energy. “Reaching 100 sites is an important milestone, and our broad footprint positions us to make EV charging more accessible for communities while expanding the ways we serve our customers.”

The company uses 400 kW chargers exclusively, either from ABB Mobility or Alpitronic, and the charging sessions are managed through the Walmart mobile app. A limited number of dispensers also have card readers, but the new station in Monument doesn’t offer this payment method.

Most sites feature eight to 16 stalls with both CCS1 and NACS connectors. Pricing is also competitive, with an average of $0.43/kilowatt-hour, according to Paren. That said, Walmart+ members get a 10% discount, bringing the cost even lower.

The retailer has wasted no time in expanding its EV charging network. During the second quarter of 2026, Walmart was only second to Tesla when it comes to the number of new ports it energized. In the first half of the year, the big-box store company deployed 612 stalls.
