This Is The Closest You’ll Get To An AMG G63 6×6 Without Spending A Million

  • This Mercedes-Benz G 63 was turned into a 6×6 by Apocalypse Manufacturing.
  • The heavily upgraded G-Wagen includes a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with 577 hp.
  • Compared to a legitimate G 63 6×6, this one is slightly shorter.

Every now and then, a usually sensible automotive brand releases a vehicle so extreme that it stops the industry in its tracks. Mercedes-Benz did this back in 2013 when it unveiled the G 63 AMG 6×6, a six-wheeled drive version of its iconic off-roader.

var adpushup = window.adpushup = window.adpushup || {que:[]};
adpushup.que.push(function() {
if (adpushup.config.platform !== “DESKTOP”){
adpushup.triggerAd(“0f7e3106-c4d6-4db4-8135-c508879a76f8”);
} else {
adpushup.triggerAd(“82503191-e1d1-435a-874f-9c78a2a54a2f”);
}
});

Global production of the six-wheeled G 63 was capped at just over 100 units, and used examples have been known to sell for over $1 million. Evidently, getting behind the wheel of one requires an extraordinary amount of money, but if you don’t have a spare seven figures sitting in your bank account, there are replicas available like this one.

Bring a Trailer

This 2019 G 63 was transformed into a six-wheel drive, three-axle monster by Apocalypse Manufacturing in Florida and looks very similar to a real one, although it inevitably hasn’t been built to the same exacting standards as the original. Working in its favor is the fact it’ll be a whole lot cheaper.

var adpushup = window.adpushup = window.adpushup || {que:[]};
adpushup.que.push(function() {
if (adpushup.config.platform === “DESKTOP”){
adpushup.triggerAd(“ea4d4b5a-f8e5-4d5d-9d9a-53a3b956b6cd”);
} else{
adpushup.triggerAd(“44c0a4dc-e25b-4ba5-ac64-2c510461b92a”);
}
});

In order to fit a third axle, the G-Wagen has been lengthened, although it’s not quite as long as the real thing. Notably, the wheelbase between the front and second axles is shorter than the genuine product, and the bed also isn’t as long. The carbon fiber fender flares fitted also don’t appear to be anywhere near as well made, nor do the blacked-out sports bars over the bed.

Similar, But Not The Same

Bring a Trailer

As part of the off-roader’s transformation, Apocalypse Manufacturing gave it a textured matte-black finish and installed a set of 22-inch Brabus wheels with 35×12.5-inch Toyo M/T Open Country tires. For what it’s worth, this G 63 6×6 does include portal axles, just like the original, and unlike some other six-wheeled conversions we’ve seen.

In terms of power, it uses Mercedes-AMG’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, rather than the 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8, although with 577 hp and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm), it is actually a little more powerful than the off-road model that inspired it, which was capped at 536 hp and 561 lb-ft (760 Nm). If it tickles your fancy, head on over to Bring a Trailer and place a bid.
