Fernando Alonso takes Aston Martin Valkyrie LM for a hot lap in France

Fernando Alonso appears to have taken an Aston Martin Valkyrie LM for a quick run at Circuit Paul Ricard in France. The footage does not show the driver clearly, but the social-media post identifies Alonso behind the wheel.

The car leaves the pitlane quietly in electric mode before the V12 fires into life. Its naturally aspirated engine fills the circuit with a race-car soundtrack, and the Aston Martin Valkyrie LM can still be heard even after disappearing from view. It then blasts past the camera on the main straight before returning to the pits.

The Valkyrie LM is essentially a track-focused version of Aston Martin’s Le Mans hypercar. It uses a naturally aspirated 6.5-litre Cosworth V12 producing 697 hp, revving to 8,400 rpm. Power goes to the rear wheels through a seven-speed sequential gearbox.

Alonso himself owns a Valkyrie, in which he has been spotted many times. In one of the most recent sightings, the Spanish F1 driver was spotted casually driving through the streets of Monaco in his unique aluminium-bodied Bugatti 16.4 Veyron Grand Sport.
