The vast width of the Range Rover allows for a pair of broad rugby players to easily have enough shoulder space, but that may mean those of a smaller stature might struggle to comfortably reach the central armrest. The designers have thought of that by putting smaller adjustable ones on the sides of the front seats instead. Seats & space in the backBuyers can specify four or five-seat configurations in Standard or Long Wheelbase body styles, along with a seven-seat Long Wheelbase version, while Land Rover claims there is now an extra 44mm of knee room for passengers in the…
Apparently, I’ve also followed 70 or so per cent of Duster customers by opting for the full-hybrid powertrain. In part, buyers want the promised excellent fuel economy, but choosing this set-up is, for the time being, the only way to get yourself into a Duster with an automatic gearbox. Advertisement – Article continues belowDespite all that, this is a car with a list price of less than £26,000 – lower than the most basic version of the Ford Puma – yet it comes with lots of premium tech. My car’s Journey trim includes all-round electric windows, a multiview camera, keyless…
It’s a similar story inside, where the Merc’s mix of top-notch quality and a lavish specification – with leather seats, dark wood trim and the brand’s excellent 12.3-inch MBUX infotainment system – makes it feel a cut above the Superb. There’s little to choose between the two for passenger space and comfort, with both easily accommodating five adults in comfort. Outright carrying capacity favours the Skoda, but the Mercedes’ 640 litres isn’t to be sniffed at. Lower the rear bench and you’ll liberate a handy 1,820 litres of space. There are digital dials on a 10-inch display, and these are also configurable, although options are limited. The trip computer is included here, with control via the end of the wiper stalk. Expert view, on design“Toyota has tried to give the Verso a smooth nose to emulate the likes of the C-HR and bZ4x, but it looks generic. The headlights are a strange mix of halogen daytime running lights and LED main lamps, so there are distinct yellow and blue tints to the supposed white light. It’s not obvious when you’re driving, though.” – Dean Gibson, senior road test editor, spent…
The seven-seater offers the most versatility, while the diesel delivers solid performance and a long range if you need it. If you mostly do urban driving, then we’d consider the PHEV over the diesel. Ford’s warranty is fairly standard at three years and 60,000 miles, although you can pay extra for an extended warranty of up to five years and 100,000 miles for added peace of mind. Service intervals for the Ford Tourneo Connect are every two years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first, and there are tailored service plans available via your local Ford dealer. AlternativesOne obvious alternative to…
The mapping is a nice design that feels pretty similar to Google’s offering, plus there’s an app store that allows you to add Spotify, for instance, although this still isn’t enough to make up for the lack of Apple CarPlay or Android Auto connectivity here. Also similar to a smartphone is the pull-down menu with about a dozen shortcut buttons, which you can customise. However, we didn’t particularly enjoy using the climate control functions within the screen; physical buttons would be preferable. Leapmotor says it will roll out over-the-air updates for life on the C10, and we hope that one…
On the road The cars’ difference in mass is noticeable in corners, where the Megane is sharper to turn in. That aside, the Skoda has an edge; its chassis is more sweetly balanced thanks to a rear-drive layout, its steering is more natural, and it’s more supple and comfortable. The Megane is marginally quicker (its 7.5-second 0-62mph time is 0.5 seconds quicker than the Elroq’s), but the gap between them isn’t noticeable on the road. Price and running The Skoda is ahead on price, delivering an SUV-sized family car for traditional hatch money. The Megane’s lighter, sleeker body doesn’t do…

Despite being barely any bigger or heavier than the 1989 original, the latest model is packed with all the tech, creature comforts and safety kit you’re ever likely to need. That’s especially true of the flagship Homura edition, which benefits from adaptive LED headlights, 17-inch BBS multi-spoke alloy wheels and a smattering of gloss black detailing, while the interior features figure-hugging Recaro heated seats, keyless entry and wireless smartphone connectivity. There are a few odd or interesting additions, depending on how much you’re into ‘digitised faux marble’, and some of the silver glossy materials across the facia are rubberised for no obvious reason. Infotainment, sat-nav and stereoIn terms of tech, the dual 12.3-inch screen set-up is one we’ve seen before from Hyundai and it’s easy to navigate, without feeling too simple. The driver’s display has a reasonable amount of personalisation, but doesn’t feature the clever blind-spot camera view that we find useful on other Hyundai models. This is likely due to the digital side-view cameras, which feed a clear and…
So mum and I spent 30 minutes at Moto Exeter early on Christmas morning, this time teasing a meagre 45kW out of the 350kW charger, a rate that quickly dropped to an insulting 30kW, and had only crept back to 39kW when I unplugged. We only managed to get charged from 60 to 76 per cent in half an hour. On the plus side, a 19kWh top-up that would have cost fifteen quid turned out to be a Christmas freebie – belated season’s greetings to you too, Gridserve. As we left Moto Exeter, we had 234 miles of range showing…
