Goodyear has created a prototype tire containing 90% sustainable materials that the company also believes could improve fuel economy and EV range. Called a “demonstration tire” by the company, the tire isn’t ready for production, but has passed all applicable regulatory testing, as well as Goodyear’s internal testing, according to a press release. That testing also showed lower rolling resistance than a comparable conventional tire, which helps boost efficiency and thus decrease the amount of fuel or electricity needed to go a certain distance. The demonstration tire uses 17 ingredients that are sustainable, or at least have a lower environmental…

Goodyear has developed a tire made from 90% sustainable materials that can also save fuel, but it’s not destined for production just yet. The “demonstration tire” passed all of Goodyear’s internal testing, as well as all applicable regulatory testing, and was shown to have a lower rolling resistance than a comparable conventional tire, the company announced last week. Lower rolling resistance improves efficiency, meaning this tire would be a good fit for EVs or models designed to maximize gas mileage. That fact, and some loose lips from reported inside sources, have led some to believe that the base Corvette Stingray is due for a power upgrade to an even 500 horses in the near future. That would be at least five horses over the current model, which makes 490 hp in…
