Ford Transit Trail discontinued due to supply chain issue

Adventure seekers living the van life just lost a vehicle option, at least for now.

The Ford Transit Trail has been discontinued for the 2025 model year. It’s unclear if the high-riding van with all-terrain tires will return for 2026.

First reported by Jalopnik and then confirmed to Motor Authority by Ford spokesperson Elizabeth Kraft, the Transit Trail’s discontinuation is attributed to supply chain issues.

“Due to on-going challenges in the supply chain and part availability constraints impacting 2023 and 2024 Transit Trail vans, we made a decision to remove package availability while we prioritize delivering parts and service on impacted vehicles in market,” Kraft told MA.

Kraft noted that Ford is assessing market demand to determine availability for future model year programs.

2023 Ford Transit Trail

Introduced for 2023, the Transit Trail was aimed at those embracing van life culture for $69,975. The Trail package gave the Transit full-size van a 3.5-inch lift, a set of 30.5-inch Goodyear Wrangler all-terrain tires on 16-inch wheels, wheel arch cladding, and a 2.8-inch wider track. A set of slider-style driver- and passenger-side steps finished off the package.

Ford offered the Transit Trail with both medium- and high-roof bodies along with the extended-length body, which when combined with the high-roof option added 14 inches to the length of the cargo floor and 487 cubic feet of storage.

Every Transit Trail had a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 rated at 310 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. A 10-speed automatic sent power to all four wheels through an all-wheel-drive system. Ford rated the Transit Trail as capable of towing up to 6,000 pounds when optioned with the Heavy Duty Trailer Package.

In 2024, Ford recalled the Transit Trail due to the large all-terrain tires rubbing on the body. The recall included both 2023 and 2024 models and included 1,902 examples in the U.S.
