Aston Martin has been working on a track-focused version of the Vantage. The car has been spotted earlier as well, but the latest spy images coming from the Nurburgring reveal a pre-production prototype with what appears to be the final bodywork and aero package. The images used in this article, though, are not of the latest test mule.
The new hardcore Vantage RS will feature a more aggressive-looking front grille, which has multiple ducts instead of the usual mesh. There are vents on either side, possibly for cooling the brakes, and a prominent splitter with small end plates.
The Vantage RS may have a slightly wider track width compared to the standard version. We say this because the front fenders appear to have been widened and feature large extractor vents.
In the rear, the sporty Vantage comes with a tall fixed spoiler with a gurney flap and vertical end plates. The rear diffuser also has an intricate design with quad exhausts in the centre.
Aston Martin is likely to offer an upgraded version of the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 in the Vantage RS. Currently, this unit develops 670 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque.
