If driving around in a regular Wrangler isn’t something that gets you excited, then the new Wrangler JL-2A might be the perfect Jeep for you. Launching as the latest model in Jeep’s Twelve 4 Twelve series, the JL-2A is a modern-day tribute to the original Willys CJ-2A.

As you likely already know, Jeep got its start building military vehicles, and it was not until 1945, with the release of the Willys CJ-2A, that it had a vehicle designed for civilian use. Jeep is now taking inspiration from its iconic model, carrying through one of its most flamboyant color combinations.

As standard, two-door models feature a Gobi finish, while the four-door can be finished in ’41, and Bright White, Sting Gray, Ghost, and Joose. Those who want to stick true to the original Willys CJ-2A would be wise to opt for Gobi, as it is the closest to that model’s Harvest Tan finish.

In 1945, the CJ-2A was available with Sunset Red wheels, so Jeep has also made the 2027 Wrangler JL-2A available with very similar 17-inch Hoose wheels, clad in 33-inch BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain tires. Further bolstering the heritage styling are color-matched front and rear fenders, plus orange front and rear tow hooks. The front grille also rocks a Dark Metallic Grey finish.
The interior gets its own set of special touches, including Nappa Heritage Tan leather, plus Rich Bison Brown across the door panels, center console, and lower instrument panel. Bold Desert Orange accent stitching matches the bright wheels, and the Wrangler also features a satin chrome shifter medallion and special graphics on the air vents.
Completing the special touches are a distinctive plaque on the swing-out tailgate, the front TrailCam, and the Standard Convenience Group, which includes remote start, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a universal garage door opener.
Shoppers can order the JL-2A as a standalone package, starting at $4,995.
