- Scout Motors revealed two new concepts of its debut vehicle, the Traveler SUV.

Scout Motors wants to show off the duality of its electric Traveler SUV with two new concepts: the Mountainside and the trail-ready concept. The former spotlights the SUV’s refinement and comfy cabin, while the latter shows off its ability to get dirty. Both will make their debuts at the Jazz Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience jazz festival, for fans to see in person.
According to Scout, the Moutainside concept is supposed to be a “warm, refined interpretation” of the electric SUV. It has a cool, sophisticated looking Morning Dusk paint that’s apparently a deep “charcoal-brown” with gold metallic flakes. Its 22-inch dish wheels are awesome, if a bit menacing. I’ll never say no to a dish wheel, though.

Inside, the light brown leather combines with gray fabric and recycled walnut wood trim to make an interesting combo. It’s luxurious but in a snow cabin kind of way. The intricately textured wood looks like a cork board from afar.
The trail-ready concept gets a Galvanized Steel paint, which is supposed to look like bare metal, but the roof is finished in a contrasting paint called Canvas. To prove how tough and capable it is, the trail-ready Traveler gets full-metal front and rear bumpers, an elevated roof rack with trail lights, an integrated front winch, and 18″ black beadlock wheels with 35″ off-road tires.

Its interior’s Denim District design will make Jay Leno run for his wallet, and the brick-red leather adds a bit of spice. It’s a much more aggressive model than the Mountainside but, again, these two concepts are designed to show off both of the Traveler’s personalities.

Both of these Scout Traveler concepts look good, but that’s no surprise—the Traveler is a good looking SUV. It walks that line between luxurious and rugged as well as anything from Land Rover, Lexus, and Rivian. Will Scout sell these concepts as packages when the Traveler finally goes on sale? That’s unclear. But hopefully Scout will at least sell some of these features as options, like the bead lock wheels and cool roof rack.
Scout says initial production of the Traveler will start next year, with customer deliveries following in 2028. Owing to outsized demand compared with the EV variant, the company has said it’ll kick things off with the range-extended Harvester trim of the Traveler. It pairs a four-cylinder generator with a 63-kilowatt-hour lithium iron phosphate battery pack and should deliver 500 miles of range.
