Volvo V60 Polestar Engineered performance wagon killed off

Volvo has quietly discontinued the V60 Polestar Engineered in the U.S., leaving the rugged V60 Cross Country as the sole remaining member of the V60 compact wagon lineup available here.

The 2025 model year marked the end of the high-performance wagon, with no indication of whether it might return.

The 2025 model year is also the last for the V60’s S60 sedan sibling in the U.S., though it remains available to order for the time being.

A company spokesperson stated that with the recent decision to move V60 production from Sweden to a plant in Belgium, Volvo chose to end production of the V60 Polestar Engineered for the U.S. to focus on the more popular V60 Cross Country. Buyers can also still opt for the larger V90 Cross Country.

The V60 Polestar Engineered debuted for the 2019 model year alongside the related S60 and XC60 Polestar Engineered models. The XC60 Polestar Engineered remains available in the U.S.

These Polestar Engineered models serve as the direct replacements for the earlier S60 and V60 Polestar variants, offering 455 hp from a T8 plug-in hybrid powertrain. They also feature upgraded suspension and brakes, along with gold-colored accents.

The future of the S60 and V60 remains uncertain, as Volvo has not confirmed whether it plans to update them as it has with the XC60 which was unveiled in updated form earlier in February. However, after Volvo scrapped its goal of becoming an all-electric brand by the end of the decade last September, there’s a strong possibility that the S60 and V60 will receive updates. Whether those updated models will be available in the U.S. beyond the V60 Cross Country remains to be seen.
