If the Trump Administration eliminates the federal EV tax credit, it could have a devastating effect on U.S. manufacturing, a new study warns. Produced by the REPEAT Project, a Princeton University group that analyzes environmental policy, the study found that killing the $7,500 tax credit would reduce EV demand, as well as endanger manufacturing jobs associated with making those vehicles and the batteries that power them. “The report is also the only analysis I’m aware of to date that draws the connection to U.S. manufacturing as well,” Jesse D. Jenkins, an assistant professor at Princeton and the study’s project leader,…

In 2010, Swiss team Matech Competition launched an FIA GT1 racing version of the Ford GT supercar (the one from the 2005 and 2006 model years, that is). Now two companies are partnering to build a road-going version called the Lynx GT1. Texas-based Lynx Motors announced Thursday in a press release that it plans to sell 28 examples of the GT1, and they will be built at the Zionsville, Indiana, shop of Graham Rahal Performance, the dealership and tuner owned by IndyCar driver Graham Rahal. Once again, this fundamentally stylish architecture is dotted with lots of little details that make the Grande Panda feel more like an installation at the Milan Design Fair than an affordable supermini. Few, if any, manufacturers have used coloured acrylic as seen on the dash and, where needed, fabrics have been deployed to keep the overall ambience from feeling too cold or stark. There’s not a single piece of padded, soft-touch plastic anywhere, and for us that’s a good thing.  For the sake of comparison, a new Renault 5 is more premium and has more content inside. But the top-spec…

Volkswagen ID.4 and Audi Q4 E-Tron electric vehicles are being recalled because of an issue with their batteries—their 12-volt batteries, that is. In the 13,769 recalled vehicles—including a mix of 2024 VW ID.4 and 2024-2025 Audi Q4 E-Tron and E-Tron Sportback models—the 12-volt battery may not charge, even when there’s plenty of charge in the high-voltage battery pack, according to the NHTSA. This could prevent cars from starting, as well as lead to loss of power or electronic issues if the 12-volt battery runs out of charge while a vehicle is being driven. 2025 Audi Q4 E-Tron This can occur…

To the left of the driver, the centre console has another touchscreen display. This portrait layout features the climate controls and drive settings, but it’s something of a distraction to use while driving – our car also had the habit of beeping when not paying attention to the road ahead, although this happened most times when using the portrait display. And it’s not as if the centre screen is easy to use for a passenger, either, with the large grab handle obscuring the screen. The Cyberster is comfortable and offers convenient luggage space, along with a generous level of standard…

The fast and fun 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is being recalled because of a problem with its brakes that has resulted in at least one crash. The recall of 1,508 vehicles aims to address a software error that could lead to “reduced braking performance,” increasing the risk of a crash, according to the NHTSA. That happens specifically when the left-foot braking feature—one of the many software-enabled features that makes the Ioniq 5 N such a good time on the track—is activated. 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N Left-foot braking helps manage weight transfer while reducing the time needed to switch…

There are other advantages to running a Tesla as a second-hand buy, and that’s got a lot to do with how the car was designed from the outset to adopt over-the-air updates. This also means that, where fitted, most of the latest autonomous driving functions are in play, such as Tesla’s Autopilot system. We also have full access to the Tesla app, which gives us a virtual key via the iPhone app, plus the ability to pre-plan trips and pre-condition the cabin – we’re particularly looking forward to that one as winter nights draw in. There’s a final bonus in…
