A hardcore version of the Denza Z has been spotted attacking the Nurburgring, and it certainly looks like the Chinese electric sports car is being put through its paces. The prototype was seen pushing hard around the famous German circuit, raising an obvious question: is Denza preparing for a serious lap-time run? BYD launched an aggressive sales campaign in the UK, its “biggest-ever,” offering over $3,000 off select plug-in and electric vehicles. Electrified vehicles, including plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and battery electric vehicles (BEVs), are driving record growth in the UK new car market. In August, over 28,000 BEVs and more than 13,700 PHEVs were registered in the UK, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), accounting for 29.8% of the overall market. Tesla launched the all-electric, steering wheel-less, and pedal-less Cybercab last night at a quiet and small event in downtown Austin, Texas. The launch, which marked the beginning of unsupervised ride-hailing for Tesla’s Robotaxi platform with Cybercab, has already caught the attention of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) who has more questions. NHTSA opened an Audit Query (AQ) into the Cybercab’s Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) certification that Tesla gave the vehicle.
