Uber and Wayve beat Waymo to the punch, launching the United Kingdom’s first public robotaxi service. The autonomous Ford Mustang Mach-E EVs can be hailed through the Uber app in London starting today. The cars can travel anywhere in the capital, apart from airports. Photo: Clearway Energy Group Maine regulators have picked Clearway Energy to develop an 800-megawatt (MW) wind farm in northern Maine – a project that would boost the state’s existing onshore wind capacity by about 66%. The Maine Public Utilities Commission (PUC) also selected Avangrid Networks, the parent company of Central Maine Power, to develop the high-voltage transmission line needed to carry the wind power from the north of the state to the New England grid. Lotus has launched the Emira 420 Sport in China. Billed as the most powerful and lightest version of the sports car yet, it carries a starting price of around 988,000 yuan ($145,000), with deliveries scheduled to begin in October. Designed as a “track-grade road car”, the 420 Sport gets several aerodynamic and weight-saving upgrades. San Francisco wants to have 100 curbside public chargers by 2030. It’s a win for people who live in apartments without home chargers. Residents can pitch the city to get a Level 2 charger on their block. EVs may be perfect for city driving—but they aren’t always perfect for city living.
