Sunrun and Tesla pulled a record 580 megawatts of power from home batteries onto California’s grid during a heat wave on September 9, the largest residential distributed power plant event ever recorded. The dispatch pooled more than 140,000 home batteries across the state and ran for a three-hour window in the evening, when the grid was straining under air-conditioning load. SpaceX has set September 22 as the target date for Starship’s 14th test flight, and this one carries a different goal than any of the 13 that came before it. Every previous Starship mission has intentionally flown a suborbital arc, reentering the atmosphere within the same hour it launched. Photo: it’s electric New York City has chosen Brooklyn-based it’s electric to supply the hardware for its permanent curbside EV charging network, which will bring nearly 700 Level 2 charging points to all five boroughs over the next three years. The rollout will replace the city’s existing pilot infrastructure and add 600 new charging points to the current 88. The chargers will be manufactured in Queens.
