An all-electric version of the Porsche Cayenne SUV will be revealed later this year, CEO Oliver Blume said in a Q&A following the announcement of the automaker’s 2024 financial results Wednesday. “We are going to present it to the world for the first time at the end of the year,” Blume said, adding that the reveal will take place on the West Coast. Electric Porsche Cayenne prototype Porsche confirmed the electric Cayenne almost exactly two years ago, although it had been mentioned as a possible addition to its product pipeline prior to that. Like the smaller electric Porsche Macan, the…
Toyota has slowly expanded its offerings of GR-branded performance cars over the years, with models like the GR Corolla and GR Yaris attaining cult-like status in some markets. None of the cars feature electrification, but that may change soon, Autocar reported on Wednesday, citing comments from GR engineer Hiroyuki Yamada. According to the report, GR, which stands for Gazoo Racing, Toyota’s official motorsports arm and performance sub-brand, is developing a hybrid powertrain that uses a newly developed 2.0-liter turbo-4 as its gas component. The move will enable Toyota to meet stricter emissions regulations in both road car and motorsports applications.…
Both models use the same running gear as the rest of the range, but are biased towards working roles. For the 2025 model year the Ineos gains forward-collision alert and road-sign recognition. Head-to-headOn the road The punchy six-cylinder diesel gives the Ineos a clear performance advantage, but the hesitant gearbox can frustrate. The Ineos engine is far smoother than the Toyota’s unit, though. Vague and relatively weighty steering means the Ineos requires your constant attention, but the Land Cruiser’s rack is light and over-assisted, so while it’s more responsive to direction changes, it doesn’t suit the car’s character. Toyota and EVgo on Tuesday announced the opening of new DC fast-charging stations for underserved communities. Located in Baldwin Park and Sacramento, California, the fast chargers are part of Toyota’s Empact plan for making electric vehicles more accessible to communities not reached by previous infrastructure projects, such as those in urban areas with limited off-street parking and higher population density in multi-family dwellings. Toyota and EVgo Empact EV fast-charging stations for underserved communities Situated in “amenity-rich areas” with nearby grocery stores, restaurants, shopping malls, and other places one might drive to, the charging stations can serve up to eight vehicles…

The season marks F1’s 75th anniversary and is the last for the sport’s current regulatory era, which goes back to 2014 when F1 made a switch from V-8 engines to turbocharged V-6 engines paired with complex hybrid systems. The V-6…
VW’s unified EV cell format brings cell-to-pack battery design Cuts costs, sets stage for cell-to-body and simplified EVs Means EVs with more range and energy density, perhaps lower weight LFP and NMC chemistries on the same format, maybe solid-state, sodium-ion Volkswagen’s vision of where it might be by the end of the decade with electric vehicles has evolved in recent years. But simplification is the keyword, and its plans to focus on a single EV battery cell format go right along with that. This week, in a technology update held just before the company’s Volkswagen Group Annual Conference, the global…

They’ll be followed by a CLA hybrid about a year after that, with replacements for the GLA-Class hatchback and GLB-Class yet to come. …

Volkswagen is close to revealing a second-generation T-Roc, with the latest prototype to be spied wearing barely any camouflage gear. The current T-Roc is a compact crossover closely related to the Golf hatchback. It made its debut in 2017 and has since spawned a high-performance T-Roc R variant and open-top T-Roc Cabriolet. The latter isn’t expected to get a repeat with the new generation, however. The new T-Roc should debut later this year. Considering VW ruled out selling the current T-Roc in the U.S., it’s likely the new generation will also skip this market. Instead, the automaker offers the bigger…
