Ford is recalling 86,543 Mustang Mach-E models because a piece of glass trim on the rear side could fall off while driving.

Ford Mustang Mach-E EV recall July 2026

The recall impacts certain Mustang Mach-E vehicles from model years 2023 to 2025. In a letter sent to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on July 30, Ford announced a recall affecting 86,543 Mustang Mach-E models.

Ford said the recall was due to a potentially improperly installed rear side quarter window glass trim that could fall off while driving.

While it may not seem like a big deal compared to some recalls involving things like power loss or wheels falling off, the broken-off trim poses a threat to others on the road.

After opening an investigation in May, Ford determined that the root cause of the loose parts was a new assembly jig installed at its supplier’s facility. Ford didn’t mention the supplier’s name, but said it was a Tier 1 OEM supplier based in Mexico.

Ford has had 219 reports of loose or detached trim pieces. No accidents or injuries have been reported related to the recall.

While the recall impacts 86,543 Mustang Mach-E models from 2023 to 2025, Ford estimates only 1% actually have the defect. The recall is out of an abundance of caution.

Letters notifying owners of the risks are expected to be mailed out on September 10, 2026. Ford will send additional letters once a remedy is available.

Once the fix is available, owners will be instructed to take their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer, where the rear side window glass trim will be inspected and, if needed, replaced. The service will be free of charge.

Owners can contact Ford’s customer service at 1-888-436-7332 with questions or concerns. Ford’s recall number is 26S56.

You can also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or visit www.NHTSA.gov for more information. The NHTSA campaign number is 26V487.
